Dr.Barbra Clayton (PhD)

Dr. Barbra Clayton is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at Mount Allison University in Canada. She is the author of Moral Theory in Śāntideva’sŚikṣāsamuccaya (Routledge, 2006), and has published numerous articles on Buddhist moral thought, including chapters in the Oxford Handbook of Buddhist Ethics and the Oxford Handbook of World Philosophy. Her recent work focuses on ethics in contemporary Buddhism, and particularly on Bhutan’s alternative economic policy of Gross National Happiness. She resides in Sackville with her family, where she helped found the Sackville Meditation Group.



Dr.Swarna Weerasinghe (PhD)

Dr. Swarna Weerasinghe is a professor at Dalhousie University, Department of Community Health and Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine. Swarna has designed and implemented number of national and International research projects related to diversity, culture and health. Her areas of research is primarily on vulnerable populations, including immigrants, aboriginal and African communities, homeless and trafficked and women engaged in transactional sex and their food insecurity in three African countries. She spearheaded the Atlantic Metropolis Health Domain to uncover health issues pertinent to immigrants in the Atlantic region. She is the founding member of the Multicultural Women’s Association of Nova Scotia and Diversity committee of the Canadian Cancer Society Nova Scotia Division. She has written seven book chapters pertaining to health and healthcare access to vulnerable populations.
